In order to promote green mobility and increase bicycle use for everyday use and not just for leisure, the iBikeShare project offers 5 hours of free cycling to those citizens who install the new Thessbike application on their mobile from 16 to 22 September 2020 .
The app is available for Android and iOS and allows users to rent a bike more easily than ever before, as well as earn rewards the more they use Thessbike bicycles.
The application includes elements of gamification (gamification) and aims to form a more positive attitude of citizens towards the use of bicycles, while through the reward system developed, regular users of the system are rewarded. Through the application, the citizens also have the opportunity to point out problems in the operation of the Thessbike system and in the bicycle infrastructure of the city, contributing to the improvement of the conditions of bicycle use in Thessaloniki.
The iBikeShare project is funded by the national action "Research - Create - Innovate" . The coordinator is the Institute for Sustainable Mobility and Transport Networks of the National Center for Research and Technological Development (HIT / CERTH) , and in this project it collaborates with the companies BRAINBOX SA and OTO SA that operate the system of public bicycles in the city of Thessaloniki.
